Bagan Full Day Sightseeing

Start your full day BAGAN sightseeing tour with a visit to see the golden stupa of SHWEZIGON Pagoda. , which is Bagan's most important reliquary shrine. See 12th Century frescoes adorning the corridors of KYANSITTHA 'Cave' Temple and observe the mural painting. Then, proceed to Wetkyi Inn Gubyaukgyi temple to observe original 12 century Mural paintings, frescoes and base-relief works and prolong to ANANDA Temple, a whitewashed masterpiece of Mon architecture with 9 meter high four standing Buddhas in four directions and welcome the pilgrimages from each entrance. After that, visit to the highest monument in Bagan, Thabyinnyu temple, one of the largest and most imposing monuments in Bagan, the pyramid like Dhammyangyi Pagoda. In the afternoon, visit MINGALAZEDI, the last of the large Pagodas built in the 13th Century.  Continue to the Myinkaba area and visit GUBYAUKGYI Temple, with its fine stucco work and impressive mural painting now preserved by Archeological Department.  Visit to NANPAYA Temple, said once to have been King Manuha's residence. Then stop at MYAZEDI Stupa to see Myanmar's "Rosetta Stone", bearing inscriptions written in four languages. Stop at one of LACQUER WARE factories to watch most famous of Bagan handicrafts. Then Board on boat for SUNSET CRUISE in Ayeyarwady River or Sunset from Shwesandaw pagoda which is the best panoramic view of entire remains.

A day-return to explore the countryside around Bagan (exact itinerary is subject to road conditions).  Drive out of Bagan to visit MOUNT POPA, the oasis of the central Myanmar dry zone, an extinct volcano with 1,500 meters high and the highest point within the Bago Yoma range is home to Myanmar's intriguing 'nats' (spirits) where is an important Nat worship center as well as a major pilgrimage destinations.  The steps and path climb sheerly steep up Mount Popa – an energetic climb rewarded by fabulous views from the top.

Visit YOKESONE MONASTERY, which is the oldest surviving wooden monastery hall, built on 154 teak posts with beautiful wood carvings decorating the outer walls. Continue to PAYATHONZU, a complex of three brick shrines with mural paintings from the Bagan period, and see MAN PAYA - a large lacquer Buddha image, said to date from the 13th century.  Return to Bagan through Chauk, where you will see old Burma Oil installations ('nodding donkeys'), and along the banks of the Ayeyarwady River.
