KyaikhtiyoOn the incredible position of boulder built this famous legendary; golden rock pagoda is Myanmar’s most the most revered pilgrimage centre. Legend has it that the Buddha’s sacred hair is enshrined in this rock. This pagoda is situated on a rocky mountain 3615 ft above sea level, 160-kilometre drive from Yangon, and an invigorating 12-kilometre trek uphill along a meandering trail from the base camp at Kin-pun. . To reach the top of the mountain , one can either make a 13km climb (which will take around 7 hours or more) or sit on the loading area of open trucks that take passengers to a so-called middle camp through a steep and winding road. From there all visitors have to walk up the remaining 4 km (500 meters in altitude) on steep tracks Porters and palanquins are available to carry luggage and pilgrims who are too old or weak. Once arrived at the pagoda, one can enjoy a spectacular view, which is particularly beautiful a sunrise or sunset.The season of pilgrimage is from October to May.
