Kachin State is renowned for its scenic natural beauty; from untouched jungle areas to the Himalayan Mount Hkakabo Razi (the highest point in Myanmar at 5,889 meters) with its year-round snow-capped peak (first climbed only in 1996). This mountain area in the far north is literally yet untouched by tourism. At present, a major part of this region has become a national Park as some rare wild life species – declared extinct elsewhere in the world – have been discovered there.
How to get there! At the northern far point, famous for the imperial Jade in the world, Kachin State where the great Ayeyarwaddy River rises is filled with the most beautiful untouched natural beauty reach by flights which take about one hour and a half. Train and High way buses are also ….. Myitkyina The nearest and the biggest community to the confluence is the sprawling town of Myitkyina, the state capital. It is also the State important trade centre between China and Myanmar. It is an ideal initial point for excursions to tribal villages, jade mines and the Myitsone River confluence (43-km from Myitkyina), where two Himalayan streams (Mehka and Malikha) meet to from the mighty Ayeyarwaddy River. In Myitkyina, You can find a vast array of their thick cotton fabrics with designs woven in red wool, or shoulder bags decorated with silver Kachin ornamentation. Putao This hush and pleasant town is situated in the northernmost part of Myanmar, with a pretty ![]() stream near it. Beyond are ice- capped mountain ranges and hastening white water rivers and in summer, valleys carpeted with wild flowers. This is a stop-off for mountaineers who want to attempt the easternmost peaks of the Himalayas. Bamaw Bamaw is smaller than Myitkyina, but set charmingly disclose rolling hills. Colourfully dressed members of the Kachin sub minority tribes as Lisu, Rawan, and other tribes as Shan, Palaung national race shop in the town. Some street Bazzar opens at 4 am, with gleaming candles dimly showing fruits, flowers and vegetables. The other interesting sites are Shwekyinar Pagoda, the local jetty and the Christian Baptist Church since Colonial time. It is credible to take a double-decker river boat from Bamaw to Mandalay is an enjoyable trip, which pass through the scenic Second Defile. Hpakant This is the Famous place for its jade mine. The jade mine at Hpakant can be visited by booking with the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism although the town is sometime closed to Foreigners. If you are here, you might have a chance to stand on the biggest imperial jade boulder in the world (21 meter long and10.6 meter in circumference), down a 12 meter shaft with safety ladders. |
