If you want to arrange half day or full day trek, this will be possible to roam around the Pindaya, Kalaw and Kyaing Tong region.

Option Trek in Pindaya

Pindaya - Yasakyi (half day trek)/ (one night stop trek)

Early morning, walk to the market buy some provision for one night stop to Yasakyi. This morning, enjoy a walk through the hills, 1 hour, to Htut Ni, village of the Danu tribe. You will pass through the faming where the Danu cultivates cheroot, tea, damsons and mangoes on the hillsides. The track crosses the valley floor before climbing very steeply again to another Danu village of See Kya Inn.  Continue walk about 2 hours to Yasakyi, another Danu village. Then observe tribal village life and how the Palaung people dry cheroot in a specially designed oven. Then, night stop at Yasakyi Monastery.

If you have more time to be extendible for 2 days trekking, night stop at Yasakyi Monastery and continue to Kan Hla Kone village through the hills to the village of the Da Nu tribes.


Option Trek in Kalaw

You can organize your trekking schedule from half day short trip to one night stop or two or three days complete trekking trip by the favor of your time allow and it depends on the weather condition and track situation. The trekking program can change either starting from Kalaw to Inle or Inle to Kalaw or Kalaw to Pindaya. Please note that trekking from Kalaw to Lake Inle requires staying in a monastery or a local village, which is strictly prohibited due to security reason. , we recommend the alternative half-day trip from Kalaw to surrounding area as follow.

Half Day or about 5/6 hours trek

Enjoy about 1 hour walk through the hills a steep track leads up to a view point which offers great views over Kalaw. From there, 40 minutes walk down to Taung Min Gyi, a village of the Pa O tribe and observe there cultivation, cheroot, tea, damsons and mangoes on the hillsides. From here one and half hour tough track crosses the valley floor before climbing very steeply again to the Palaung village of Pinnabin. The village has an interesting long house for eight families. Observe tribal village life and how the Palaung people dry cheroot in a specially designed oven. Formerly animists, the Palaung people have mostly converted to Buddhism. In this part, you can end up your half day or 5/6 hours trekking and return to your hotel. If you wish for a full day trek, walk about 1 hour steep hill and about 30 minutes down to one palaung village where you can see tea leaf plantation and seasonal fruits orchard and continue to Pain Nae Pin about 1 hour and 30 minutes. There you can continue walk about 2 hours to Taung Ni, another Palaung village. Here stay overnight at a monastery where 2 chief monks and about 17 novices studying. If we arrive on time we can walk up to a nearby viewpoint.

Half Day short trek to Taryaw village

***Another interesting short trek is just 3 hours walk from Kalaw to Taryaw Village one of the Palaung villages where filled with unspoiled Shan traditions, their simple life style and people working in their farm with cows and the scenery of their plantation are remained unchanged since olden days. Amazing living style in stilt houses together with their compound family, way of carrying water by using Bamboo tubes on their back. Their staple food; Shan red rice and pumpkin seeds with pounding chilly are never forgot for the visitors. You can take a rest for a while at Palaung Monastery in Taryaw Village. They will serve the tea and banana as much as you can enjoy.

Extra days trekking from Kalaw to Pindaya/ Inle

You can arrange from one up to four days trekking started your program from Kalaw and end your trek at Pindaya/ Inle discuss with us.

Sample Kalaw Trek (4 days/ 3 nights)

Day 1

Day 2     

After Simple breakfast. In the early morning, leave Taungni and walk another 2 hours to Zedi Gone, Pa-o village. From there we continue walking through the hills, to the Danu village of Lwe Soung village. The Danu cultivate peanut, corn, ginger, potatoes and cauliflower on the hillsides. From Lwe Soung village we continue to Kon Lyin village which is another 30 minutes walk away to Lwe Makan . The last part of the track to Tamakan takes about 1hour and half. Simple and easy lunch on the way, dinner and accommodation at Tamakan monastery.

Day 3   

After Simple breakfast in the early morning, start again a day long walking in the quiet valley. Walk through Nyaung Pin village and arrive at the “vegetarian” monastery” after about 2 hours and 30 minutes. The monks and novices in this monastery are all vegetarians. We continue to Kanpanae village where stop for lunch. In this village, visit some houses where knifes, bamboo mattresses, bamboo baskets and water pots are made. After lunch we walk for an hour to Supaninn where  bring to a halt for a Shan tea. The last part of the trek before reaching concluding destination is very steep! At arrive in Wagyimoun in the late afternoon. Easy dinner and accommodation at the monastery.

Day 4   

Simple breakfast after waking up in early morning, leave Wagyimoun and walk to Channipauk     which last about 1 hour, living Taungyoe tribes and Pao tribes there. Today, only walk about 3 hours down to reach Khaung Daing at the edge of Inle Lake where we will arrive after lunch. The track is very pleasant as it leads us through nice forests down to the lake. Have snacks on the way. In Khaung Daing, board our boat and drive to our hotel on the lake.


Option Trek in Kyaing Tong

Kyaing Tong, one of the most gorgeous towns in Shan State.You can observe around the hills and the vast valley floor where is dotted with small villages, home to at least ten different tribal groups. Living almost side by side in small communities are groups of Ang, Lahu Ahka, Akhu, Padaung, Kala, Shan, Chin, Lishu, Pao, the headhunting Wa, Khun and Laui.

**You can arrange half day up to full day soft trek around Kyaing Tong Area.**


Information about trekking tour

Please note that you have to buy the food for the whole trip already in Kalaw. In the villages you walk through, you cannot buy anything. There is no shop, restaurant, phone etc. You will sleep in monasteries where everybody is sleeping in one and the same room and there is absolutely no privacy. (Man and woman sleep in separate parts of the room). There are now showers or bathrooms and you have to wash yourself together with the other people. Usually there is a big water pot and you wear a sarong and pour water over yourself. For the trekking tour following items are essential:

•    Sleeping bag
•    Good walking shoes
•    Warm jacket (nights can be very chilly)
•    Sarong
•    First aid kit
•    Mosquito and Insect repellent lotion/ spray
•    Mosquito net
•    Warm cloths (from November until February it is very cold at night time!)
•    Towels
